August 28, 2016
Cleanup Drive at Manila Bay
The Church of God was founded by Christ Ahnsahnghong in South Korea, and has branched out to more than 2,500 locations in 175 countries. The Metro Manila Chapter of the Church of God organized an event to cleanup Drive at the coasts of Manila Bay on August 28,2016 from 3pm to 5pm.
More than 700 members gathered exceeding 100 tons were removed from the coasts of Manila Bay
Despite the unpredictable weather and the even more unpredictably busy lives, more than 700 members of the World Mission Society Church of God gathered to participate in the event. The members were brimming with happiness as they illuminate Roxas boulevard with their bright shirts and even brighter smiles. The volunteers were undeniably resolved to share the love of God the Mother to their fellow countrymen. Shortly after starting the clean up event, volunteers were already running out of garbage sacks. Within the first hour, the volunteers already achieved their goal of filling up 1000 sacks of garbage. Their zeal to shine the glory of God the Mother was unstoppable. Within the second hour, truckloads of wastes exceeding 100 tons were removed from the coasts of Manila Bay. The wastes consist mainly of non-biodegradable materials ranging from plastics, packaging for consumer products(i.e. shampoo, soap, junk food) textile, rubber, glass, metals, used diapers and even parasitical water lilies.
This clean up campaign is done in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Manila City Hall, Manila Tourism, Rotary Club of Manila, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, Disaster Risk and Management of Manila and Sigma Force.
