Elohim: God the Mother, The Bride in Revelation 22:17

The God testified in the Bible, God the Father and God the Mother

Most people have stereotypes. They only hold on to what is commonly explained and believed. They thought that God was the only one, calling Him God the Father. Traditionally speaking, people grew up only knowing the God who was introduced by the Church or by their parents. Without knowledge obtained from the Bible, people just trust their own prejudice. Then, is God only Father? The correct answer is not found in our commonness or generational legacy but in the Testimony of the Bible.

The original version of the Bible is written in Hebrew, and the five books (Genesis to Deuteronomy) are called “Pentateuch”. When looking at the Hebrew Bible, God was described as “Elohim” which means “Gods” and not in its singular form “El or Eloah”.

This matter should not be taken lightly, Christians ought to know who God Elohim is testified in the Bible.

Even though the Bible nowadays is said to be translated into various languages, the existence of God is defined in the plural form “Elohim” can’t be denied.

Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness,… So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

According to the verses above, the God who said “Let us” have two Images: Male and Female. Generally, people call the male God, “Father”. Then, since there is a female God, what should people call her? Shouldn’t She be called “Mother”?

The existence of Both God the Father and God the Mother is testified even in the beginning of the Bible.

God the Mother is a life-giver

People seek God to receive blessings of Salvation. Surprisingly enough, even the last book of the Bible emphasizes that God, who gives eternal life is not only God the Father but there exists God the Mother who is a life giver too.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”. And let the one who hears say, “Come!”. Let the one who is thirsty come, and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The spirit and the Bride are calling people who want to be saved by granting them the water of life which is Eternal life (John 3:14).

The savior testified in the book of Revelation is not only the Spirit our God the Father (2 Corinthians 3:17) but also the Bride. Then who is the Bride of God?

The Bride, Heavenly Jerusalem our Mother

Churches nowadays interpret the book of Revelation in fragments, not considering the whole context, they insist that the Bride refers to the saints or the church quoting only the following verses where the church and the saints are likened to the bride (wife of Christ).

Ephesians 5:22-25 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

2 Corinthians 11:2  I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

If their interpretation is correct, then it means that the church as well as saints can give the water of life (eternal life). Even if people repeatedly read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, there is no single verse in the Bible that a saint or church gives eternal life.

The Bible states that only God can give eternal life (Jeremiah 2:13; John 4:14). Therefore, the Bride in Revelation 22:17 who gives eternal life is surely God.

Revelation 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”… and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

The angel told John that he would show him the Bride and in verse 10, the angel showed him Jerusalem from Heaven (Heavenly Jerusalem). Since Heavenly Jerusalem is the Bride of the Lamb our God the Father (John 1:29, John 10:30), She is surely our God the Mother.

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

The Bride in Revelation 22:17 is the Heavenly Jerusalem, God the Mother.

Come to the Spirit and the Bride

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”. And let the one who hears say, “Come!”. Let the one who is thirsty come, and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The Spirit (God the Father) and the Bride (God the Mother) keep calling people to receive eternal life. Those who will accept and come to Them will acquire life forever and enter Heaven.

Moreover, those who will deny the prophecy and reject the Savior can’t receive the water of life and their soul will suffer from spiritual thirst and soon die.

Both the Old Testament and New Testament record the existence of both God the Father and God the Mother.
