Heresy and the Gospel

Who can distinguish which is Heresy and which is the Gospel of Christ? All churches in the world claim to preach the gospel. However, Jesus prophesied the coming of false prophets in the last days to deceive even the elect (Mt. 24:24). If there are false prophets, it means that there are false teachings, that is, heresy, which people must be aware of. If people fail to recognize these heresies and follow them, they cannot be saved.

2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructibe heresies… bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction had not been sleeping.

Fake and Real

There are designer clothes, bags and shoes, and there are also those that are merely imitations. Only those with trained eyes can immediately distinguish the real from fake. For ignorants and for the indifferent, they are clueless as to the cost of the original items, much less their value. They do not distinguish the subtle difference in texture, in color, in small details such as their logos, spelling or the stitching. In most societies all over the world, there are fewer people who can afford branded things, fewer, still, are those who are really into designer clothes and shoes or bags, hence, only a handful, compared to the rest of the world, can really distinguish the real from fake. Others would not know they were scammed, but others, sadly enough, choose to buy fake products, being pretentious hoping to deceive others and brag about it. Still, most people do not care, as they cannot afford such luxury. However, they know nothing about its value, that it is through careful consideration of the design and fabric, to name a few, and the geniuses behind them, that these products cost a fortune. It is because of careful scrutiny that brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Hermès and others, have climbed up the ladder to succes in the fashion industry.

The same can be said about the words of God. It is through the awesome work of God that the gospel has been established for the salvation of mankind. Only those who have trained themselves to distinguish right from wrong can and will be able to discern truth from falsehood.

Revelation 14:1-5, 12 Then I looked, and there before me was thr Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads…They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God amd the Lamb…This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

The people follow the lamb wherever he goes means that they are those who obey the gospel of Christ. They are those who know the value of the gospel and keep them with patient endurance, thinking of the kingdom of heaven. However, the ignorant and the indifferent know nothing of the truth and its value and just follow the traditions of men. Unfortunately, there are those who are aware of what is falsehood, and teach such heresies to others. These are the false prophets and false teachers whom Jesus prophesied about, who will appear in the last days to deceive mankind. They brag about their knowledge of the Bible and twist the truth taking advantage of the people’s ignorance. Then how can one discern which is the Gospel of Christ and which is just heresy?

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the New Covenant

Jesus came to this earth for the sole purpose of preaching the gospel – the good news of salvation, to all mankind (Mt. 4:23). In Colossians 1:23 and Romans 15:15-16, Apostle Paul said that he became a servant or minister of the gospel by the grace of God, and in 2 Corinthians 3:6, God made him competent as minister of a new covenant. As servant and minister are the same words, so the gospel in which Paul became a servant of, is the New Covenant.

Core of the New Covenant

Luke 22:15-22 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer… In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ” This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

This is the scene when Jesus and his disciples kept the Passover. The covenant established by Jesus through the Passover is the New Covenant. Therefore, the core of the New Covenant is the Passover. Only the church that keeps the truth of the Passover according to the Bible is the true church that teaches and follows the gospel of Christ. Churches that say and brag that they preach the gospel without the Passover, preach not the gospel, but heresies.

Blessing of the Gospel

Ephesians 3:4-6 …mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promised in Christ Jesus.

How blessed are those who keep the gospel, the New Covenant, and realize its value. Through the New Covenant, God calls the people, “my people” (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:8-12). By giving His flesh and blood through the Passover of the New Covenant, people can become one body with Christ (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) and receive eternal life (John 6:53-54). And to receive the flesh and blood of Christ means becoming the children and heirs of God who will inherit the kingdom of heaven (Romans 8:16-17).

Condemnation of those who love Heresy

Those who hate the truth and love heresy will be punished with everlasting destruction, and those who teach them will be cursed and eternally condemned.

Galatians 1:6-9 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one preached to you, let them be under God’s curse.

What is Heresy?

Different gospel, not taught by Jesus nor by the apostles, is really no gospel at all. Heresy is not the Gospel of Christ, but a man-made teaching that will not lead to salvation, but to destruction and eternal condemnation. Sunday worship, instead of the Sabbath and Christmas, instead of the Passover, are some of the heresies taught by most churhces all over the world. They pervert the gospel of Christ saying that Sunday is the Lord’s day, when it is the venerable day of the sun; and making the people believe that Christmas is the birthday of Jesus, when it is really the birthday of the sun-god. They throw people into confusion, thereby, condemning them to everlasting destruction.

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and fo the glory of his might.

Church of God Exposes Heresy by Preaching the Gospel of Christ

In order to be saved, one must seek for the Church that keeps the Passover. It is only the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) that keeps the Passover of the New Covenant, and preaches the gospel which Christ preached 2000 years ago. They received the promise eternal life through Jesus’ flesh and blood and have the hope to inherit the kingdom of heaven.

They are those whom God approved to be ministers and servants of the gospel. By preaching the Passover and the Sabbath of the New Covenant, they expose the churches for who they really are — false and pretentious. By preaching the truth, the light of the gospel exposes the heresy and falsehood hiding in this dark world. Those who discern the truth come to the light of the gospel and receive the blessing of salvation, but those who love heresy will be condemned for eternity.
